Met 2024-07-15 11:00 at Magnolia Hotel: Julián Álvarez 1746, Palermo Soho, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Alejandro actually made me cry a bit when he told me the director’s meaning of my favorite film “Double Life of Veronique” - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Double_Life_of_Veronique - how her death symbolized the director leaving Poland for France.

And in our conversation about movies, made me realize I probably love films as much as I love music. That scrambled my self-identity a bit.

We talked a lot about music, fame, Argentina, identity, geopolitics, recording. My past with Kurt Rosenwinkel and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

He found it helpful to know how many different things I tried before I started a successful business.

I absolutely loved our conversation more than most, felt a kindredy bond with him that I usually don’t with most strangers, so then it was extra-amazing when he told me he’s Jewish, because for decades most of my friends have been Jewish, so that really made me wonder why I click with Jewish people so well. Meeting Ale was like passing a blind test, since I didn’t know that about him until the end of the conversation.

Also I really like his soundtrack music.
