Mukesh created a musicians’ collective in Chennai, to help promote Tamil music. Mumbai’s Bollywood exports India culture worldwide, but doesn’t promote the local Maharashtra culture. Whereas Kollywood - the local Tamil film industry - promotes Tamil culture. His model is to get musicians together to collaborate on a project, then he owns the rights to that project only, to recoop costs, helping to raise the profile of all musicians involved.
