Jingzhou Chen
Met 2024-11-27 12:00 at Shenzhen Marriott Nanshan, Shenzhen, China.11 years ago, when he was 20, he searched the web for "this is a test", and found my article: https://sive.rs/tvtest - which says "see what happens". He emailed me back then to see what happens, and now 11 years later, we're out to lunch in Shenzhen.
He's from Guangzhou, dropped out of high school because he hated it, and has been self-taught since. He has a thoughtful philosophy about why this is the better choice, and I agree. Showing his skills online, he got a sweet job at Tencent in Shenzhen.
Cantonese is less used these days, since most who speak Cantonese also speak Mandarin, since it's required in school.
He used Unity Engine to make a translation app, among other things. Currently developing apps for MR headsets, like Vision Pro and Meta Quest.
Chinese doesn't use "Generation Y" or "Millenials" type terms, but refer to generations by the decade they're born. 80s/90s/00s.
