Met 2025-04-27 13:00 at JW Marriott Hong Kong, Hong Kong.

Grew up in Kurukshetra where Bhagavad Gita's Mahabharata was set, so people there are often very religious but his family was not. They moved to Chandigarh, which when I asked what it's like to live there he said, "If driving and you miss your turn you can take the next one, which is not the case in most of India." He also explained why Chandigarh is the capital of two states. Moved to London for six years for university and has a tattoo on his arm of the path he'd walk every day in Regent's Park. Moved to Hong Kong two years ago for work. He studies gist: how some cultures are more specific while some rely on gist. Some places it's OK to lie about the specifics if the gist is accurate, but others OK to lie about gist if specifics are accurate. As for Hong Kong, he stays out of local politics. At his university, it's about 45% locals, 40% mainland Chinese, 15% from everywhere else. He predicts VR will be ubiquitous.
