After meeting a stranger from Hong Kong, he impulsively booked a flight to Hong Kong and got to know this part of the world. Speaks fluent Cantonese. Got a job in Macau in 2007 and has been here since. It's comfortable, small, warm, with perfect pockets of nature for swimming. Most people here work 9-5 M-F so you have the ocean to yourself on weekdays, and no traffic from 10am-4pm. Europe/France is not as free as China, since it's hard to eat lunch after 2pm and so much is restricted, but China is practical, efficient, and free. He keeps a balance of programming a bit, resting a bit, some routine, some novelty, some brain-work, some body-work. Many Macau (and other) people are prejudiced against China without going there, but it's so undeniably nice.
