Muhammad Furqan
He went to university for anthropology, which is part of why I wanted to meet, since that’s one of my main interests.
He taught me about field work versus study work, how you have to observe because of the difference between what people say and what they do.
And about auto-ethnography: studying yourself through the lens of anthropology.
A Wim Wenders film called “Perfect Days” inspired him to apply to go to Japan, to work a blue collar job in a group with fellow Indonesians, so he’s waiting for that application to be in the next batch. He’s studying Japanese now, and staying fit.
