Rizki patiently answered so many of my questions about the Hajj. Some go for a full 40 days of ritual acts, places to visit, but most do it in just 7 days. The rest of the year, some of the ritual places are closed. The seven circles around the kabaa only takes around 45 minutes. It’s hard to touch the kabaa because it’s so crowded.

I learned that Jakarta is the most populous city in the world with 42 million people.

Rizki moved around many different parts of Indonesia since his father was a civil servant.

As an adult, he spent two years on Manado, which are mostly Christian but very respectful of other religions.

Now works at the largest state-owned bank. We ran into a guy from Nelson, New Zealand, where I used to live.
