Felicia Lasmana

She came by bus from Bandung, 2½ hours. The express train only takes 30 minutes, but it takes an extra hour of commuting to get to that train and it leaves less often.

She comes from many generations of Bandung people, though long long long ago some ancestor moved down from China, they don’t even know what region, and don’t speak Chinese, only Sundanese and Bahasia Indonesia, and the family is all racially mixed now.

Works from home for an NGO based in Oxford, whose other employees are in Guyana, Mexico, and all over the world. She has always worked in this field. She went to a year abroad in University in Kent, England, and travels a lot.

She walked me around the basement of the Pacific Place Mall, where she’s buying something for her mother then taking the long bus back to Bandung.
