If you know you’ll never go to Asia, you can skip this.
If you’re looking for a travel guide, you can skip this.
But if you might do business in Asia, have thought about moving to Asia, or just want to understand the cultures of Asia, you will love this.
16 books about moving to and doing business in 16 countries in Asia: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
They’re all ebooks for under $10 each, sold at LeanPub, Amazon, and Apple iBooks.
Plus this year there’s a 17th book, combining all 16 books into one massive 4448-page ebook, for easy comparison between different countries.
Please go to woodegg.com to check them out now.
These 2014 editions were all written in the last three months, based on research from the last six months. They’re the most current and thorough guides of their kind.
The 2013 editions were OK, but I never promoted them because I wanted them to be deeper, more thorough, and more insightful. But these 2014 editions were created by some amazing researchers and writers, so I can now proudly say these books are really very good.
I’ll have more to say about them in the coming weeks.
But for now, I just want to say they’re here. Two years of effort by over 140 people. I’m so thrilled, and honestly a little in awe of what we’ve created.
I hope you buy one, and hope you like it.
Derek, this—your latest endeavor is awesome. I know it will help so many who are contemplating new horizons. Wishing you all the best!
Congratulations ... An interesting approach to convey unique knowledge.
The 2013 Singapore guide was good. I was there in the summer and the info was accurate. Just got the 2014 version and it even better. Thanks for the continuous improvement philosophy at WoodEgg!
By this, we know to continue in our own work. How can we thank you? By not falling for the interruptions. Must we expose ourselves to the extent that you have, in order for this to happen for us? I need to take a long walk : )
Congratulations Derek, this new project/initiative should provide great insights for lot of first-time entrepreneurs to start/setup their business quickly!
Wow! What an undertaking. It looks wonderfully interesting! I was in China in 1984 and things were starting to change at that time, I can imagine how different it is now!!I wonder what the market is like for music from the west?? I'm sure there are writing/teaching /performing possibilities .I think these are a wonderful, helpful resource Derek and extremely innovative..like everything you do!
VERY different music market. These books don't specifically cover the music scene, so don't look to them for that. But they do give an insight into the culture and mindset, which helps. — Derek
Congrats Derek!!! I plan to visit and explore all the parts of Asia! It's been a dream of mine. Thanks for doing this!
Fascinating endeavour ... condensing the global into the local pages ... of a book. Great project! :-)
'wood egg' - 'wood', fuel in some sense that can transform ... the 'egg', the symbol of new possibility, ready to hatch ... in each case, i.e., transformation and new birth ... processes ready to be facilitated under the right conditions. The books just might help optimize such conditions. Nice symbol(s) in that case. Congratulations on seeing such a project come into fruition, Derek. The new fruit that can come from this, as well, to blossom on the tree of the work of the reader; potentially so; potentially so ...great project.
☺ Thank you! — Derek
you're inspirational Derek ... can't add much to that except 'best wishes in all your endeavours.'
Got the combined Asia edition for my brother, who lives half the year in Japan and is currently travelling between Thailand and Cambodia. He's chuffed! Not only that, but we're working on some micro-businesses that will make some local craftspeople's lives better and bring their wares to North America. Thanks again for your great work!
Perfect match! Tell your brother to feel free to email me anytime. — Derek
Hey Derek! I see you're still the busiest beaver! Hem
Hi Derek,
Would a person who purchases the 2014 version be entitled to the upgraded version for 2015 (and beyond) free of charge? If not, is there a plan to allow for upgraded versions for life even at a higher cost now? (I know it is already a steal at 10 bucks but just wondering)
I upgraded people from 2013 to 2014 for free, because I wasn't proud of the 2013 guides, plus they were $50 then! For 2015, maybe, though like you said, that $10 price doesn't leave much leeway. At very least if you register your purchase at woodegg.com, you've got lifetime access to all the raw research. — Derek
Hi, Derek
Thanks for sharing this wonderful opportunity, i truly enjoyed this! and i believe the core value for this wood egg project is the series of questions. I found it's not easy not only to answer but also to think of "good" questions. It's your great job. Now I'd like to focus on and deepen for my field, global medicine. I'd like to hear your opinions some time in the future.
Anyway, Congrats again, Derek!
Good work Sir !!!!! Awesome!! Thumbs up(Y)
Peace (Sri Lanka)
All these books look incredible Derek! Very nice work my friend and many congrats on creating such a useful and unique set of books! Way to go!
I don't know how your brain works to come up with something this incredible and work out how to achieve it. In awe, as always.
Hi Derek:
Is there a 'reverse' book planned (or 'reverse' books) for anyone from these countries looking to go in the reverse direction, i.e., perhaps a USA book, for instance, modelled along the same lines?
That said, not having read any of the books here, perhaps the reverse is already contained in each book; via comparisons, for instance, made in the various sections to what the situation might be in the USA, where you are from.
The books could be a great resource for students and instructors in Southeast Asia business development departments, like the one in our local college here.
Cam
Nope. Most business books are USA books, without needing to be explicitly so - they're written by American authors about doing business in America. I produced these Wood Egg books for my own self-education, so no book about America. — Derek
I just read the Myanmar book and found found it to be easy to navigate and very clear. The information is presented in a professional yet relaxed tone. Myanmar's story is being told in an even, educated way in Derek's book; as it deserves to be and rarely has been.
Thanks Dan! So glad you liked it. — Derek
Besides going to woodegg.com, I like how you can click on the book cover and be led to the book.
hey, I have a distracted mind I want something in my life, I want to a successful business and I also to be a successful public speaker so can you help me.
I think books are out of print and maybe no latest edition too?
But many things remain the same even after 6 years. Why don't you make them available in PDF format, paid or free?
I will, soon. — Derek
I really loved your book "Anything you want". I also watched your talk about it. Its very inspirational, simple, and to the point.
Thank you for this great book!
I am a 23 years old who want to start a business one day. I want to read your book "China 2014", but I can't find it on these mentioned websites."They’re all ebooks for under $10 each, sold at LeanPub, Amazon, and Apple iBooks."
Could you please guide me where to find it?
Fun fact: I am also an INTJ 😄
